A family budget lets you and your partner share categories from your own budgets, like rent or groceries. Everything you don’t share stays private.

Start: in Settings → Family, enter your partner’s email and tap Start family budget and invite. Starting one needs Nestbook Plus; your partner doesn’t need their own.
Join: your partner sees the invite in Settings and taps Join family budget.
Share a category: on your Plan tab, tap Share a category with…, pick one, and choose who pays: I cover it all, Split 50/50, or Set amounts. It stays in your own budget at your share, marked shared. Its auto-log carries on, once, for both of you.
Keep yours and share too: want your own Eating out and a shared one? When you share it, pick Keep mine, add a family one. Yours stays private with its own budget, and a separate shared one (e.g. “Eating out (family)”) is added with its own amount and split. Already shared it whole? Tap Change on it, then Add a private one too.
Logging: either of you can log into a shared category from your own + Add expense. Each of your budgets counts your share of what’s spent in it, whoever paid.
Who added what: on the Budget tab, tap a shared category to see each entry, its note and who added it, how much each of you paid, and your share. Tap You or your partner’s name to see only theirs.
Covered by your partner: shared categories your partner pays for in full fold into one Covered by … line at the end of their group. Tap it to show them. You can still log into them: anything either of you logs there shows in both your Logs (at $0 for the one who doesn’t pay), and the category comes back into the list for that month.
Family screen: tap Family at the top to see everything shared. Who paid says in one line whether one of you has covered more than your share; tap Details for this month, then Mark as paid back once you’ve squared up, or Adjust split if the split doesn’t match who really pays.
What’s new: when your partner has logged something since you last looked, Family says so at the top. Tap See them to find them in the Log, marked New.
Moving an entry: logged something in the wrong budget? Tap the entry (in Mine or Family) and use the Mine | Family switch at the top. The closest category is picked for you; tap Move to Family or Move to Mine. Moved to Mine, it leaves the family budget and the full amount counts in yours. Right after logging, the note at the bottom also has a Move to … button. You can only move entries you added, and auto-logged bills stay where they are.
Deleting: in Family, only the person who added an entry can delete it. You can still tap it to fix a typo.
Change or stop: tap Change on a shared category to change the split or stop sharing; it goes back to being only yours, at the full amount. Past months keep the split they had.
Leaving: either of you can leave at any time, and that closes the family budget for both of you. Each of you keeps your share of everything logged, in your own budget, and your shared categories become your own again at your share, so neither budget’s numbers change. If one of you has covered more than your share, the leave screen says so first, so you can settle up.
Combining: if you had a family one beside your own (like Eating out (family) and Eating out), the closing note offers to combine them into one. The amounts add up and this month’s entries move across; past months stay as they were. Untick it to keep them apart.
Plus: the person who starts the family budget needs Nestbook Plus; their partner doesn’t. If that Plus ends, the family budget keeps working for 14 days, with a note saying when it closes, then closes the same way. Turning Plus back on before then keeps it open, or the partner can get Plus themselves: one Plus covers you both, whoever pays.
The first time you open Family, a short tour shows you around. Take it again from Settings → Help → Take the tour while you’re on Family.
